4D3N Journey To The Heart of Nature

The fascinating part of this location is not only for its luscious rainforest but also because of an interesting local folklore. It was said that the giant rocky pinnacle — Batu Punggul, was once a traditional Murut longhouse that was turned into stone overnight, by their angry Gods, as one of the taboos was broken by people attending a big feast!

With this in mind, you are about to enter a remote and mysterious part of Borneo, that will enchant you and leave you wanting to come back to visit again!


(Overnight Pungiton Camp / Lunch & Dinner)

0630hrs Pick up from KK city hotel and transfer to bus station to get to Keningau town. Upon arrival, your local guide from Sapulot will greet you. Continue your journey in a 4 wheel drive for your onward journey to the interior of Borneo (2hours).

A short boat transfer to Pungiton Camp. After lunch, settle in and embark on a short walk to discover the unexplored Tinahas Caves. Trek through the cave alongside an underground stream and marvel at the formation of stalactites and stalagmites. Return to camp for a refreshing swim by the river. Enjoy dinner and relax yourself under the starry sky by the camp site.

Wake up early for breakfast. Check out from the camp and transfer to Tataluan by 4 wheel drive and boat ride for your excursion to Batu Punggul, an 800 feet limestone pinnacle, rising out of the ancient rainforest.

For the adventurous bunch, you can try to scramble up to the top of the pinnacle (45min-1hour) for a magnificent view of the jungle and valley below. Upon your descent, enjoy picnic lunch by the riverbank before continuing your journey by boat and 4 wheel drive to the waterfall.

Afternoon is spent exploring the waterfall area and swimming. Dinner will be served by the camp site. Overnight in a hut overlooking the waterfall.


(Overnight Longhouse / Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Ride Downstream towards the Kalimantan Border in a wooden boat. Enjoy the breath taking views and observe the different livelihood of the different Murut Villages along the river. Stop by a Hidden Waterfall for a swim by the waterfall. A Picnic lunch will be served by river banks.

Shoot back up in another heart pounding rapid shooting ride back to Salung Jetty and get transferred to a Modern Village house. The longhouse sits above a valley, overlooking the forest and surrounding areas. Evening is spent feasting on Murut food, wine and local dancing.



Depart after lunch to Keningau bus station for Kota Kinabalu.
